We come from this world
Menchi was not built by people who read about clinics. It was built by someone who spent nine years inside them, and it is reviewed by people who still work in them.
Alejandro Zuluaga, founder

In healthcare since 2017, in operations and engineering. The job was often the one nobody else wanted: when a machine went down, the manufacturer was a week away, and every hour spent on the equipment was an hour taken from a patient.
That is the problem Menchi is pointed at, moved to the phone. A clinic should not need an IT person to stop missing patients, and the time Menchi gives back is time that goes to the person in the room.
Lean Six Sigma Green Belt. M.Sc. in AI for business productivity.
Dr. Megumi Iizuka, medical sounding board

An ophthalmologist who pressure-tests the product decisions that touch care. She decides where the doctor begins, which is the line Menchi is built never to cross: Menchi answers the everyday questions and hands anything clinical to a person.
Victor Ugorji, method review

Fifteen years improving processes inside Fortune 500 companies, and a Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt. He reviews how we work rather than what we ship, which is the difference between a product that survives one clinic and a product that survives ten.
Where the name comes from

Mercedes Zuluaga, known to her family as Menchi, was Alejandro’s aunt. She answered the phone and she answered the door, and she made sure that every person who came to her felt heard before anything else happened.
That is the whole idea, and it is why the line at the top of this site is care begins before the doctor. By the time a patient sees a clinician, they have already been treated well or treated badly, and most of that happened on the phone.
Menchi carries that on.
The company
Menchi is built and operated by Zalto Inc., a federal Canadian corporation with its registered office in Mississauga, Ontario. Transcripts and bookings are stored in Canada, and some processing happens in the United States while a call is in progress. The detail is on our privacy page and sub-processors.
